Pieter Vandermeeren has been working as a project manager with the Antwerp Port Authority for eight years. His focus has been on marine energy transition and environmental intelligence. He has guided the port community in the introduction of LNG bunkering operations, led a team towards the retrofit of a tug boat to methanol operations and deployed a network of intelligent sensors that were integrated in the port’s digital twin. Since recently, Pieter has moved into port sustainability strategy and has been assigned the task to produce a Green Ports Master Plan for transitioning the European port sector in the framework of the European Green Deal.
