Vanessa Franssen is an associate professor at the University of Liège (Belgium), an affiliated senior researcher at the Institute of Criminal Law of the KU Leuven (Belgium) and a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg. Furthermore, she is a member of the Brussels bar.
Prof. Franssen studied Law and Romance Languages at the KU Leuven and Panthéon-Sorbonne University of Paris 1. She was a Fulbright Fellow and Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Michigan Law School.
Her research mainly focuses on EU criminal law, cybercrime, comparative criminal procedure, economic and financial criminal law, the interplay between criminal and administrative law in Europe, as well as EU competition law.
